Island Hopping

North of Belitung's main coastline, a scatter of small granite islands — Lengkuas, Kepayang, Batu Garuda, Pasir and others — makes for the region's signature day trip: a chartered boat hopping between several islands, each with its own granite boulder formations, clear water, and a slightly different character.

The typical route
A standard full-day charter from Tanjung Kelayang covers 3–4 islands, usually including Lengkuas (for the lighthouse), Kepayang (the largest, often the lunch stop, with basic facilities), and a couple of smaller granite-boulder islands for swimming and snorkeling.
Booking a boat
Boats are chartered by group rather than booked per-seat on a fixed schedule in most cases — arranging with your accommodation or a Tanjung Kelayang boat operator the day before, and splitting the cost among a small group, is the standard approach.
What to bring
Snorkel gear (bring your own if you have it), reef-safe sunscreen, water, and cash for any island entrance fees or food at Kepayang — most smaller islands have no facilities at all, so plan accordingly.
