Mandalika is a special economic zone on Lombok's south coast, built around the Mandalika International Street Circuit that hosts MotoGP and WSBK races — but the coastline around it, with rolling headland viewpoints and turquoise bays, was already one of Lombok's best before the racetrack arrived.

The 4.3km street circuit hosts Indonesia's MotoGP round, typically in the dry season calendar — race weekends bring a genuine international crowd and a spike in accommodation prices/availability across the whole southern coast, worth checking dates before booking.
Merese Hill & the coastline
Bukit Merese, a short walk or scooter ride from the circuit, is the standout viewpoint — a grassy headland overlooking the curve of Mandalika's beaches and the offshore Gili islets (Gili Nanggu-adjacent, not the main tourist Gilis further north), especially striking at sunset.
Beaches
Tanjung Aan (shared with the Kuta Lombok write-up) and Seger Beach sit within the Mandalika zone itself — resort development has picked up fast here, but the beaches themselves remain genuinely good, with none of the crowding you'd find at an equivalent Bali spot.

- —Merese Hill sunset gets busy with domestic tourists on weekends — a weekday visit is noticeably quieter.
- —The zone is under heavy development — expect construction in places even as the natural coastline itself stays beautiful.
- —Combine with a Kuta Lombok base — Mandalika is close enough for an easy day visit rather than needing its own separate stay.
