President Putin signed an order extending Russia's visa-free regime for Chinese citizens — 30-day stays for tourism or work — from its original September 2026 expiration to December 31, 2027.

Russia has extended its visa-free entry regime for Chinese passport holders, allowing stays of up to 30 days for tourism or work, from an original expiration of September 14, 2026 out to December 31, 2027. President Putin signed the extension on July 20, 2026, mirroring China's own May 2026 extension of visa-free entry for Russian citizens.

Group tours between the two countries already operate visa-free separately from this individual-traveler rule, and Russian transit travelers can stay in China for up to 10 days without a visa under a related arrangement.

For individual Chinese travelers planning a Russia trip, the practical effect is straightforward: the 30-day visa-free window that's been in place is now confirmed well into 2027 rather than facing a September 2026 cutoff, giving more certainty for anyone booking further ahead.
