Vietnam stretches over 1,600km from Hanoi in the north to Ho Chi Minh City in the south, and most first trips end up picking a region rather than the whole country: Hanoi and Ha Long Bay in the north, Hoi An and Hue in the center, Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta in the south. Best time to visit
The seasons vary sharply by region — roughly October–April in the north and center is drier, while the south stays warm year-round with a May–October wet season
Getting there
Noi Bai International (HAN) in Hanoi or Tan Son Nhat International (SGN) in Ho Chi Minh City — both connect via direct flights from across Asia, and e-visas are available for most nationalities
