Domestic Tourism in Russia Is Up 6.2% So Far in 2026

Russians made 34.2 million domestic tourist trips between January and May 2026, up 6.2% year-on-year, with Moscow, Krasnodar Region and several regions actively investing in tourism infrastructure posting the strongest growth.

Domestic tourist trips across Russia rose 6.2% year-on-year to 34.2 million between January and May 2026, according to TASS. Moscow drew the highest volume at 5.2 million trips, followed by Krasnodar Region at 3.2 million and Moscow Region at 2.7 million.

Growth was particularly strong in regions that have been actively building out tourism infrastructure in recent years, including the Republic of Tuva, Sevastopol, the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, the Republic of Dagestan, the Amur Region and North Ossetia-Alania — a sign that investment outside the traditional Moscow/St. Petersburg/Golden Ring core is starting to show up in the numbers.

The steady growth reflects sustained interest among Russians in traveling within the country, officials noted, part of a broader trend of regional destinations outside the classic circuit picking up a larger share of domestic trips.
