The Burner Express Bus Is Back for 2026, Running From Reno and San Francisco
Burning Man's official charter bus service returns for 2026, with one-way tickets from Reno starting at $159 and from San Francisco at $194, running Reno's airport to Black Rock City with dedicated gate access.

The Burner Express Bus, Burning Man's official charter service since 2013, returns for 2026 with routes from Reno-Tahoe International Airport and San Francisco directly to Black Rock City. One-way tickets from Reno start at $159 and from San Francisco at $194, both plus fees, with extra charges for large amounts of luggage, bikes, or a grocery stop in Reno.
The service's main practical advantage is bypassing Gate traffic: buses use a dedicated lane into Black Rock City and arrive directly at the Burner Express depot, meaningfully faster than driving and queuing at Gate during peak arrival periods. For 2026, build-week departures from Reno run from Friday, August 28, with buses to the playa continuing through Thursday, September 3, and return service beginning Friday, September 4 through the peak exodus period.
Check-in at Reno-Tahoe Airport is inside baggage claim near Door D, with an Air Playa Info desk in the main terminal on the way. A valid Burning Man ticket is required and verified before boarding; bus tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable.
