Vietnam's E-Visa Is Now Open to Every Nationality, and 12 European Countries Get Visa-Free Entry

Citizens of 12 European countries can now enter Vietnam visa-free for up to 45 days through August 2028, while the e-visa program remains open to all other nationalities.

Vietnam's visa-free program has been expanded to cover citizens of 12 European countries — Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Hungary, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland — who can now enter for tourism purposes for up to 45 days, with the policy confirmed to run through 14 August 2028.

For everyone else, the e-visa program (open to all countries and territories since its 2023 expansion) remains the standard route: applied for online ahead of travel, rather than requiring an embassy visit.

Combined, the two policies mean most travelers now have a genuinely simple entry process into Vietnam, whether through automatic visa-free entry or a straightforward online e-visa application.
