Fansipan Cable Car Marks 10 Years, Having Carried Over 10 Million Visitors

Sun Group marked the 10th anniversary of the Fansipan cable car's operation on July 18, 2026, with a ceremony themed 'A Decade of Blossoming.' Built over 800 days in the challenging terrain and climate of the Hoang Lien Son range, the cable car holds two Guinness World Records and reaches Vietnam's highest peak, at 3,143m, in around 15 minutes.

Over the past decade the line has carried more than 10 million passengers, becoming one of Vietnam's most visited attractions. The wider impact on Sa Pa has been dramatic: the town drew only 600,000-700,000 visitors a year before the cable car opened, compared with over 5 million by 2025, and tourism revenue has grown roughly elevenfold over the same period.

In the first half of 2026, Agoda ranked Sun World Fansipan Legend as Vietnam's top destination by bookings, and Fansipan has separately been named 'Leading Tourist Attraction' at the VITA Awards 2026 — recognition that reflects a genuine, sustained shift in Sa Pa's tourism economy, not just a single good season.
