Finland's appeal is understated rather than flashy — forests and lakes covering most of the country, Helsinki's design-forward but low-key capital, and a culture built around sauna, silence and a real relationship with winter. That last part is why it keeps landing major ice-sport events: Tampere, the country's second city, hosts the 2027 ISU World Figure Skating Championships, part of a long Finnish tradition in ice hockey and figure skating that goes well beyond a single tournament.
