LA28 Confirms SoFi Stadium Will Host a Temporary Pool Seating 38,000 — Olympic Swimming's Biggest Ever
LA28 organizers detailed venue plans built entirely around existing infrastructure — no new permanent construction — including a temporary SoFi Stadium pool for swimming.
LA28 organizers confirmed a temporary pool will be built inside SoFi Stadium in Inglewood for the 2028 Olympics, seating 38,000 — making it the largest swimming venue in Olympic history. The Games run July 14–30, 2028, with the Paralympics following August 15–27.
For the first time in Olympic history, no new permanent venues are being built for the Games — LA28 is using existing infrastructure across more than 40 venues, including SoFi Stadium and the LA Memorial Coliseum, which will jointly host the opening ceremony across two venues for the first time ever.
